John P. Bevilaqua is Founder and CEO of Creative Marketing Strategies, an Atlanta based consulting and communications practice. He was initiated into the Sigma Chi Fraternity (Delta Theta Chapter) at the University of Chattanooga where he holds a BS in Business Administration. He also has a Master’s in Business Administration and PhD. in Business Management.
John has spent thirty five years in the sports marketing, management and communications field having worked at Coca-Cola USA and he was VP Communications at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee. He has been involved in ten Olympic Games and has traveled to over 80 countries. Over the past decades John’s firm has negotiated many significant sponsorship agreements, mostly around major sporting events such as the Olympics and World Cup. CMS has enjoyed working relationships with Fortune 200 companies such as AT&T, The Coca-Cola Company, 3M Corporation, EDS, Gulfstream Aerospace, IBM and many others. CMS has also acted as executive consultant to LakePoint Sports and Jacoby Development.
He was named to the Who’s Who Registry and was named one of fifty Who’s Who in Sports in Atlanta in 1996. John was an Adjunct Professor at Georgia Tech and Georgia State University and has served on many Boards including the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, 1996 Paralympic Games, US Green Building Council, Georgia Special Olympics and was President of the Woodstock Police Foundation. He was also named to USA/TFA All American track and field team in 1982 and was a three-time All Star running back in the Southern Football League. John was one of the founding members of the Atlanta Sports Council and served on the executive committee for two years. He co-hosted an Olympic radio program during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
John’s hobbies include writing, fitness, cycling, photography, golf and mentoring young people. John is active in the community and has served on many charity boards. He was married to Sweetheart of Sigma Chi (Delta Theta) Mary Alice Howell who passed away in June 2014. He has written two books including a non-fiction work about his late wife titled, The end was only the beginning. John also mentors young undergraduates and is a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia. He is available for public or private speaking engagements on the topics of spirituality, coping with loss, connecting with the spirit world and living life positively.
